Liszt is the author of two piano concertos and the cycle is going to include both of them. However, today we will be listening to the first one, whose “birth” was very difficult: there were twenty years between its first version and the public premiere, and even after its first performance the composer made some adjustments. The song will be played by Martin Chudada, the winner of the Beethoven’s Hradec competition in 2016. His performance will be followed by that of the organist Josef Kratochvíl from the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. Kratochvíl will perform the First Organ Symphony of Alexander Guillmant, another professor at the Paris Conservatory and a long-time organist at the Holy Trinity in Paris.
A student at the Ostrava conservatory, Kateřina Pašková, will then follow up with Debussy’s clarinet rhapsody, which the composer was asked to write by virtue of his duties at the Paris Conservatory. Finally, the Janáček Philharmonic, led by a laureate of the prestigious Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition in Bamberg, Sergey Neller, will perform Suite No. 2 from Ravel’s ballet Daphnis et Chloé.
