JPO will pay tribute to Petr Hapek, a genius composer, charismatic singer and an extraordinary personality of Czech music. We will recall not only his early songwriting for Hana Hegerova, but also the fruits of his collaboration with his greatest creative partner Michal Horáček.

The brilliant composer and charismatic singer Petr Hapka would have celebrated his 80th birthday in May 2024. He left behind hundreds of beautiful songs that are still played on the radio and heard in films today. The Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava has therefore decided to pay tribute to this extraordinary personality of Czech music with two unforgettable concerts. We will remember not only his early songwriting for Hana Hegerová, but also his collaboration with his greatest creative partner Michal Horáček. During the evening, film melodies will also be performed. Invited to participate are personalities who interpreted Hapek’s songs in his last major project Kudykam.
