The JPO’s two-week tour to Japan represents a crucial opportunity for the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava to present Czech music and Czech performance art to a Japanese audience. As contemporary Japan represents an extremely attractive classical music market, JPO will play a total of 9 concerts here in 13 days, in the destinations of Musashino, Fukui, Chigasaki, including 6 concerts as part of the Gargan Music Festival in Kanazawa. The focus of the Janáček Philharmonic’s tour in Japan will be the world-famous festival in Kanazawa, which offers dozens of concerts from orchestral to chamber concerts during one weekend. The theme of this year’s festival is Eastern Europe, and the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava was chosen as the only orchestra to represent the Czech Republic.
